Here, this trail joins the Goethe Trail uphill to großer Hermannstein (755 m a.s.l.) and further on to Goethehäuschen on Kickelhahn (861 m a.s.l.). Here, take some time to have a look at the historic hunting facility and enjoy the view from Kickelhahn tower over Thüringer Wald and Ilmenau.

After about 1 km downhill, you reach the Museum Jagdhaus Gabelbach. Here, you find information on Goethe's scientific studies. After visiting the museum, walk further down on the beech alley to the Scheffel memorial. Here, you cross Waldstraße and Gabelbach on the other side. Further on you walk on the Alte Rodelbahn trail to Ritzebühl pond and the southern part of Ilmenau. Walk on Waldstraße left into Naumannstraße, which takes you back to Festival Hall, passing Bahnhof Bad station.
